Australia 4th Quarter 2014: Nissan X-Trail back in Top 20

As is the tradition on BSCB I can now share with you our quarterly All-models ranking for Australia. If the Top 4 is unchanged on last quarter and the Full Year 2014 ranking (Corolla-3-Hilux-i30), the changes are rife below. Both the Mitsubishi Triton, boosted by record December sales up to #5 and the Ford Ranger at #6 overtake the Holden Commodore down a depressing 28% year-on-year to just 6,419 sales. The VW Golf is back inside the Top 10, the Subaru Forester is up 13 spots on Q3 to a splendid 14th spot, the Isuzu D-Max is up 12 to #16, threatening the Holden Colorado at #15 and the Nissan X-Trail is back inside the Top 2o at #20.

The new generation Honda Jazz has definitely struck a chord with Australian consumers: the nameplate is up to #28 over the period vs. #42 in FY2014, while the Mercedes C-Class confirms its return to form at #33, the VW Amarok continues its irresistible progression at a best-ever #35, the Subaru Impreza is up 20 ranks on Q3 to #41, the Nissan Pathfinder up 15 to #45 and the Audi A3 breaks into the Australian quarterly Top 50 for the very first time at #48. Further down, the Mercedes CLA is up 23 spots to #71, the Honda City up 32 to #72, the Ford Ecosport up 4 to #89, the Mercedes GLA up 29 to #105, Porsche Macan up 25 to #120 and the Lexus NX takes off at #130 and 384 sales – it ranked #240 over Q3.

We welcome 4 new nameplates in the Australian sales charts over the period: Chinese manufacturer LDV launched the V80 van to smooth success so far at #159 and 214 sales, Hyundai’s step into luxury world has convinced 163 buyers, pushing the Genesis to #167, the Lexus RC lands at #190 with 96 units sold and the BMW i3 arrives at #240 with 33 sales.
