After going through the detailed brands ranking yesterday, it is now time to study the European models sales charts, in a market encouragingly up year-on-year for the 5th consecutive month. The VW Golf is more dominant than ever, up a fantastic 28% year-on-year to 39,305 sales which is almost double the score of the #2, its lil sister the VW Polo at 22,783 units (+9%). The Polo is followed by the Ford Fiesta (+8%) and Renault Clio (-2%) while the Peugeot 208 is back up inside the Top 5 for the first time since last May in spite of sales down 6% year-on-year to 18,492 units.

But the two best performing models in the Top 10 are below: the Skoda Octavia lodges another outstanding month at #6, up 33% on January 2013 to 16,967 sales. This is the Octavia’s 4th consecutive month in the Top 10, its 2nd best-ever rankng in Europe below the #5 spot it reached in October and November 2013 and its 5th Top 10 ranking in the last 6 months whereas it had only broken into the European Top 10 once before that (in January 2012)…

Finally the Audi A3 jumps up to #8 thanks to sales up a gargantuan 84% year-on-year to 15,600 units, potentially boosted by the sedan variant gaining momentum. This is only the 4th time the A3 ever ranks within the Top 10 best-sellers in Europe – all within the past year – after April 2013 (#9), August 2013 (#6) and November 2013 (#9)

I do not think so. In reality you have to add the Captur sales. There are customers who are switching from Clio to Captur, as this is a SUV-looking Clio.
Just one month is not enough to make conclusions.
