Morocco Full Year 2013: Dacia Logan, Dokker and Sandero in Top 4

New car sales in Morocco are down 8% year-on-year in 2013 to 120,755 registrations and local producer Dacia takes a spectacular jump to cement its market domination in 2013: up 12% to 30,388 sales and a mammoth 25.2% share vs. 20.8% in 2012. That’s almost double the #2, its parent company Renault down 19% to 16,642 units and 13.8%. Ford (+3%) and Peugeot (-16%) exchange positions while Hyundai remains 5th. Significant gainers this year include Fiat up 11%, Mercedes up 12% and Porsche up 23%.

Model-wise, thanks to the new generation of the model the Dacia Logan, produced locally, reclaims the pole position this even though its sales are down 10% to 10,706 units and 8.9%. The Renault Kangoo, leader in 2012, is down a harsh 44% to #2 with 7,249 sales and 6% while the Dacia Dokker is up 20 spots and 473% to land in third place for its first full year of sales in the country with 6,855 units and 5.7%. But wait there are more Dacias in the Top 6: the Sandero remains #4 thanks to sales up 14% to 6,727 and the Duster is down 3 ranks and 29% to #6. In fact, the Renault Group monopolises the Top 6 with the Clio up 53% to #5.

The other newcomer in this year’s Moroccan Top 10 is the Peugeot 301, up 48 spots and 488% to #10 with 2,641 sales and 2.2% share. This means the 301 has managed to rank inside the Top 10 of each Magreb country it launched in: Algeria (#2), Tunisia (#5) and Morocco (#10). Other great performers this year in Morocco include the Mitsubishi L200 up 41% to #14, Fiat Punto up 23% to #17 and the Hyundai i30 up 21% to #23. Finally, notice the Citroen C-Elysee up to #29 and the Peugeot 208 up to #31.
