Slovakia February 2013: Skoda Fabia & Octavia fight it off

As you may have noticed, Slovak new car sales data is now very patchy for the simple reason that my source ZAP has now closed off its monthly data reporting to subscription-based. Nevertheless I was able to dig out a Top 3 models for February, Top 15 brands year-to-date and February sales of all Skoda models. Over that period, the Slovak new car market is down 14% year-on-year to 8,772 registrations. Skoda leads by far with 1,785 sales and 20.3%, ahead of Volkswagen at 902 and 10.3%, Hyundai at 680 and 7.8% and Kia at 602 and 6.9%.

Model-wise, the fight is getting tight between the Skoda Fabia and Octavia… The Fabia totals 289 sales in February for a 6.6% market share (50.1% are the station wagon version) while the Octavia is at 282 and 6.4%. Of these, 76% are station wagons, 217 are the previous generation and 63 are the all-new model. The VW Golf brilliantly jumps onto the third step of the podium thanks to 158 units and 3.6% while the Skoda Rapid is up to a shiny 115 sales and 2.6% share.
