Poland February 2013: Ford Fiesta jumps onto podium

The Polish new car market is down just 1% year-on-year in February, a solid performance given the current depressed environment in Europe. This brings the year-to-date total to 56,740 units, up 5% on 2012. Passed by the Skoda Fabia for the first time in 4 years last month, the Skoda Octavia reclaims the pole position in February but is still very shy at 836 sales and 3.1% share, or less than half the 6.3% it hit one year ago in February 2012… #2 this month at 774 units and 2.9%, the Fabia still leads year-to-date with 2,484 sales and 4.4% vs. 1,989 and 3.5% for the Octavia.

Outstanding performance of the Ford Fiesta, potentially helped by the arrival of the new model and up 5 spots to land on the third step of the podium at 736 units and 2.7%. This is by far the Fiesta’s best monthly ranking in the country for at least 4 years. Other great performers this month in Poland include the Kia Sportage extremely solid at #6, the Hyundai ix35 up 15 ranks on January to #8, the Dacia Duster up 10 to #9, Peugeot 208 up 19 to #11, Kia Cee’d up 11 to #13, Skoda Rapid at #28, Suzuki SX4 up 15 to #29 and Dacia Lodgy up 5 to #40.
