Switzerland December 2012: VW Up! up to record #5

29,108 new cars found a buyer in Switzerland in December, bringing the Full Year 2012 total to 328,139 sales. Volkswagen finishes the year on a high, placing no less than 4 models in the Top 5. The VW Golf enjoys the benefits of the arrival of the 7th generation, #1 for the 2nd month in a row and taking off to 5.8% share thanks to 1,674 sales. It is followed by the VW Polo, up 2 spots on November to hit a fantastic 4.1% and 1,198 units, more than double its 2012 share… The Passat is up 10 ranks to #4 but the most impressive Volkswagen this month in Switzerland is without a doubt the Up!: up 7 spots to beat its ranking record once again to #5 with 685 sales and 2.4%.

BMW 1 Series

The BMW 1 Series also impresses, up a massive 18 ranks on last month to #6 at 553 units and 1.9%, its highest ranking in the country in over a year. Other great performers this month include the BMW 3 Series solid in the Top 10 at #9 vs. #18 in the Full Year, the Mini up 17 spots to #13, Renault Scenic up 23 to #17, Subaru Legacy up to #25 vs. #83 in the Full Year, Mazda CX-5 at #33 vs. #63, Kia Cee’d up to #56 vs. 96, Volvo V40 up to #61 vs. #127, Renault Espace up to #69 vs. #107 and Porsche Cayenne up to #70 vs. #103. Notice also the Ford B-Max down 22 ranks to #64 and the Dacia Lodgy down 17 to #80.

  1. In any decent European market the 208 sells well – but what’s with Switzerland?
    Neighbour Peugeot is completely ignored.

    Even Sharan’s and Evoque’s sell more!
