The South African new car market is up a very healthy 10% year-on-year both in October at 57,845 registrations and year-to-date at 524,758 units. The VW Polo Vivo confirms its newly acquired title of most popular model in the country in the year-to-date ranking by snapping up the top spot again in October with 3,341 sales and 5.8%. It is the 4th month in a row the Polo Vivo is #1 in South Africa and the 6th time this year. It therefore reinforces its year-to-date lead at 30,029 units and 5.7% vs. 28,587 and 5.4% for the Toyota Hilux, down to #4 this month.

VW Polo

The VW Polo is up to #2 for the first time since the new generation launched in the country over 2 years ago thanks to 2,883 sales and an excellent 5% share, but the big event of the month is in third place: the Toyota Etios is up one spot to climb onto the South African podium for the first time ever at 2,625 units and 4.5%, smashing its ranking, volume and market share records in the country all at once! An outstanding launch for Toyota here.
