Spain February 2012: Seat Ibiza, Opel Corsa & Peugeot 308 lead

After returning to positive in January, Spanish car sales are back down 2% year-on-year in February at 55,029 registrations, the second worst February in 20 years. The 2012 year-to-date total stands at 119,823 units and is the worst result after 2 months in Spain in 20 years. 5th in January, the Seat Ibiza reclaims its traditional pole position this month with 2,517 sales and 4.6% and is also back on top year-to-date at 4,069 units and 3.4%.

BMW 1 Series

Excellent performance of the Opel Corsa up a massive 12 spots to #2 with 2,032 sales and 3.7% and of the Peugeot 308 up to #3 at 1,896 units and 3.4%. The VW Golf is up 2 ranks to #4 and the Citroen C4 stays strong at #5 and 3.3%, well ahead of its 2011 level. Other good performers this month include the BMW 1 Series at #13, Fiat 500 at #14, Ford C-Max at #15 and Hyundai i10 at #21.

Audi Q3

As far as recent launches are concerned, the Audi Q3 breaks into the Spanish Top 50 for the first time, up 21 spots on January to #40 at 495 units and 0.9%, the Range Rover Evoque stays at an outstanding 41st place with 490 sales, the Hyundai i40 is up 42 ranks to #80 and the Citroen DS5 is up 68 spots to #98. Two newcomers get noticed: the VW Up! lands directly at #122 with 78 units and the Mazda CX-5 is #172 with 34 sales.
