New car sales in Israel are down 6% year-on-year in February to 18,444 registrations, bringing the 2012 year-to-date total to 38,638 units, down 2%. Both brands and models rankings continue on their wild trajectory: Hyundai establishes itself as the best-selling brand in the country by far, while the Ford Focus is the uncontested best-selling model in this beginning of year with 1,705 sales and an enormous 9.2% market share in February, bringing its 2012 total to 3,424 units and 8.9% compared to 2.8% share in Full Year 2011!

Hyundai shows how its range now stretches to every nook and cranny of the market and most importantly how each of their models can deliver strong results all at the same time: the Korean brand places no less than 3 models in the Israeli Top 4 in February! The Hyundai i25 (aka Accent) is up 12 spots on January to #2 with 1,027 sales and 5.6%, the i35 (aka Elantra) is up 14 ranks to #3 at 878 units and 4.8% and the i20 is up 12 spots to #4 with 758 sales and 4.1%. There is also the i30 up 12 ranks to #7, the ix35 at #12 and the i10 at #13…

The Toyota Corolla is down one spot to #4, the Mazda3, leader of the market up until last year, is still surprisingly weak in 6th position with just 600 sales and 3.3% to be compared with 5.2% over the Full Year 2011. The Mazda2 however is back up to its 2011 level in February at #9 and 2.4% share. Notice also Peugeot 107 up 11 ranks to #11 and the Kia Cee’d up 7 spots to #16.
