Saudi Arabia 2010: Toyota Camry dominates

The Saudi car market has not been affected much by the economic crisis, with sales up 1% in 2009 at 595,586 units, the 2010 BMI forecast being +2% at 619,220 units.

Observation of the main capital cities’ streets through YouTube videos indicate the Toyota Camry is a strong best-seller in the country. Other successful models include the Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Yaris sedan, Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet Caprice, Toyota Corolla and Honda Accord.

Thanks to Saudi we now have more recent information about the Saudi car market and we now know that the all-new Hyundai Accent is off to a great start in the country, as well as the new generation Hyundai Sonata and the Mazda2 sedan and Mazda3.

Saudi Arabia is the second largest market in the world for American SUVs (after the US!), with the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban the most popular. Other successful SUVs include the Infiniti FX and all-new Nissan Patrol.

Among luxury cars, BMW is the best-selling brand with the 7 Series selling solid numbers. Mercedes and Audi follow.
