Mexico 1995: Nissan overtakes Volkswagen for #1 in imploding market (-70.4%)

The Nissan Tsuru holds 14.6% share of the Mexican market in 1995.

Complete and utter debacle for the Mexican new car market in 1995, hit full frontal at -70.4% to just 171.284 units. Nissan (-67.5%) bypasses Volkswagen (-79%) to become the most popular brand in Mexico for what is believed to be the first time. Ford (-70.2%) remains at #3 while Chevrolet (-66%) overtakes Dodge (-72.6%) to rank #4. Plymouth (-46.1%) and Mercury (-49.4%) resist the best in the Top 10. Model-wise, the Nissan Tsuru/Sentra (-74.6%) holds onto the top spot with 14.6% share, easily distancing the VW Beetle (-80.9%) while the Chevrolet Cavalier (-60.3%) is up 4 spots to land on the podium. The Nissan Pickup (-42.7%) is up 7 ranks to #5, the Chrysler Neon (-56.6%) is up two to #8 and the Dodge Stratus lands directly at #10.
