The Slovenian new car market is up a whopping 21% year-on-year in August to 3.993 registrations, which lifts the year-to-date total to 40.922 units, up 13% on 2014. Volkswagen (-4%), Renault (+33%) and Ford (+74%) dominate the brands ranking all the while displaying contrasting yoy evolutions. Hyundai more than doubles its sales vs. a year ago (+129%), with Toyota (+42%), Kia (+65%), Mazda (+58%), and Suzuki (+100%) all lodging spectacular gains.

The Renault Clio remains the most popular model in the country with almost double the sales of any other nameplate at 8.8% share, followed by the VW Golf (4.6%) and Polo (3.3%). The Skoda Fabia is strong again at 3.1% ahead of the VW Passat at 2.9% while the Ford Focus is up 4 spots on July to #7 and the Nissan Qashqai is up 14 to #9. The Hyundai Tucson lands directly inside the Slovenian Top 10 at #10 with 1.6% share, with the ix35 boosted up 36 spots to #12 by runout discounts and the ix20 up to #13 vs. #47 year-to-date. Notice also the Fiat Panda up to #15 vs. #37 YTD, the Ford Kuga up to #26 vs. #45, the Fiat 500X taking off 21 ranks on last month to #29, the Suzuki Vitara at #50, Mazda CX-3 at #64, Renault Kadjar at #70 and Jeep Renegade at #75.

Another solid month for new car sales in Slovenia: up 10% year-on-year in July to 5.079 registrations and 12% year-to-date to 36.929. Volkswagen (16.2%) keeps the lead of the brands ranking ahead of Renault (13.1%), Skoda (11%), Opel (8.7%) and Ford (7.5%) while Dacia implodes: down from #5 with 383 sales and 7% in June to #18 at just 69 units and 1.4%, the blatant results of sales being front-loaded into June for a better H1 result. BMW is up 5 spots on June to #8, Audi up 5 to #11 and Jeep up 7 to #19. The Renault Clio returns to the pole position it traditionally holds thanks to 302 deliveries, and it is followed this month by the Skoda Fabia boosted by the new model up 4 ranks to #2 and 250 units, kicking the VW Golf to #3 and the Polo to #4. Notice also the Renault Captur up 7 to #6, the Ford Fiesta up 24 to #9, VW Golf Sportsvan up 9 to #10 and the Jeep Renegade (#42), Renault Kadjar (#49) and Fiat 500X (#50) all fitting inside the Top 50.

Slovenia June 2015: Dacia Duster posts historical win

New car sales in Slovenia are up a very robust 13% year-on-year in June to 5.446 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total to 31.829 units, also up 13% on 2014. Volkswagen (14.7%) and Renault (11.2%) continue to lead the brands ranking while Opel (10.5%) overtakes Skoda (8.9%) to round up the podium. Dacia also shines in 5th place, and 7% share, up 73% so far in 2015. Year-to-date, Ford is up 29%, Kia up 22%, Nissan up 84%, Mazda up 45%, Alfa Romeo up 118% and Mitsubishi up 123%. In the models ranking, we witness a historical move: for the first time ever, the Dacia Duster surges to #1 in Slovenia thanks to 302 sales and 5.6% share, beating its previous best of #2 hit last October when it, interestingly, delivered a higher market share (6.1%).

The VW Golf and Renault Clio both gain one spot on May to #2 and #3 respectively, the Skoda Octavia is down two to #4 and the VW Passat is stable at an outstanding 5th place. Notice also the Skoda Fabia solid at #6, the Opel Astra up to #9, the Opel Meriva up 19 ranks on last month to #16, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta up 23 to #32, and a slew on all-new SUVs making their way up the ladder: the Suzuki Vitara at #47, Fiat 500X at #48, Mazda CX-3 at #54 and Renault Kadjar at #56.

Slovenia May 2015: Polo, Octavia and Golf topple Clio

The Slovenian new car market confirms it is definitely on the mend with another very satisfying 14% year-on-year gain in May to 5.388 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 26.383 deliveries, up 13% on 2014. Outsold by Renault in April, Volkswagen reclaims the brands pole position it holds year-to-date thanks to 857 sales and 15.9% share vs. 605 and 11.2% for the French manufacturer. Skoda rounds up the podium with a strong 10.8% of the market ahead of Opel (8.2%), Ford (6.7%) and Dacia (5.3%). This month the perennial Slovenian leader, the Renault Clio, is toppled from its throne for the first time since last September by not just one but 3 vehicles all from the VAG Group, falling to #4 which is is lowest ranking in the country since January 2014. The VW Polo leads the way for the third time in recent memory along with January and May 2014 thanks to 251 sales and 4.7% share, ahead of the Skoda Octavia and VW Golf both at 4.1%. Notice also the VW Passat extremely solid at #5, the Skoda Fabia up 6 spots on last month to #6 and the Fiat 500 up 14 to #7.

Slovenian new car sales are up another very dynamic 10% year-on-year in April to 5.348 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 20.995 units, up 12% on 2014. Even though Volkswagen retreats below Renault in the brands ranking this month at 846 sales and 15.6% vs. 880 and 15.8%, the German manufacturer manages to place 3 models in the Top 5: below the untouchable Renault Clio at 9.9% share, the VW Golf ranks #2 with the Polo at #4 and the Passat at #5. The Dacia Sandero is up 7 spots on March to #6, the Nissan Juke is back down 5 ranks to #7 and drops to #3 year-to-date (still up 150% on 2014 though) and the Ford Fiesta is up 10 spots to #8.

The Slovenian new car market is definitely on the mend: up another 17% year-on-year in March to 5,958 registrations, bringing the first quarter total to 15,647 units, up 13% on 2014. Thanks to 919 sales and 15.4% share, Volkswagen reclaims the brands pole position off Renault at 853 and 14.3%, with Skoda, Nissan and Opel following as in the year-to-date order. Ford is up 6 spots on February to #6 and Fiat up 12 to #7. Year-to-date, Nissan (+97%), Suzuki and Dacia (both at +88%) are the biggest gainers in the Top 20 In the models ranking, the Nissan Juke is now teasing the Renault Clio for the overall #1 spot with 387 sales vs. 405, earning the controversially-designed Japanese SUV the 2015 year-to-date second spot above the VW Golf. The Renault Mégane is up 4 spots on February to #4, the Fiat 500 surges up to #7, the VW Passat brilliantly remains inside the Top 10 at #9 and the Ford Focus is up 20 to #10. Finally we welcome the Fiat 500X and Suzuki Vitara in the ranking, both rounding up the Top 80 with their first 15 units sold in Slovenia this month.

Another very solid month for new car sales in Slovenia, up 12% year-on-year in February to 4,550 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 9,639 units, up 11% on 2014. Renault edges past Volkswagen for the brands pole position this month with 765 sales and 16.8% vs. 760 and 16.7%, however the German manufacturers is still #1 year-to-date at 1,562 units (+20%) vs. 1,471 (+26%). Skoda is back up to #3 both in February and year-to-date, above Nissan and Opel while Dacia is down 3 spots to #6. In the models ranking, below the Renault Clio very strong at 8.7% share, the Nissan Juke is up a further two spots on January to lift its all-time ranking record to an astounding 2nd place thanks to 251 sales and 5.5% share, now up 168% year-on-year so far in 2015. Notice also the VW Golf Sportsvan up to #10, the Skoda Fabia up to #11, Hyundai ix35 up to #13, Peugeot 2008 up to #21, Suzuki SX4 S-Cross up to #26 and the Dacia Lodgy up to #29.

Robust start of the year for new car sales in Slovenia: up 11% in January to 5,139 registrations. Volkswagen reclaims the #1 brand spot it held over the FY2014 thanks to 802 sales and 15.6% share above Renault at 706 units and 13.7% while Dacia brilliantly overtakes Skoda to jump on the podium thanks to 374 deliveries and 7.3% vs. 360 and 7% for the Czech manufacturer. The Renault Clio is the best-selling nameplate in the country with 6.4% share ahead of the VW Golf at 3.2%, the Dacia Duster manages a 4th podium ranking in the past 5 months at #3 and 3.5% while the Nissan Juke is stuck at its best-ever Slovenian ranking at #4. Other great performers this month in Slovenia include the VW Passat up to #10 and the Nissan Qashqai up to #11.

Slovenia Full Year 2014: Renault Clio leads, Captur up to #5

At 53,296 registrations in 2014, the Slovenian new car market is up an encouraging 6% on 2013. Momentous event in the brands ranking: Volkswagen topples perennial leader Renault thanks to sales up 16% to 8,456 and 15.9% vs. 7,815 and 14.7% (-5%) for the French manufacturer. Skoda jumps on the podium with deliveries up 41% to 4,951, followed by Opel (+15%), Peugeot (-8%) and Citroen (-6%). Dacia more than doubles its sales (+126%) to leap up directly to 7th place. Notice also Nissan up 32%, Seat up 28%, Suzuki up 70% and Porsche up 60%.

However there is no such earthquake in the models ranking: the Renault Clio keeps the lead for the 17th year in a row despite sales down 9% to 3,597 and 6.7% share, potentially eroded by the tremendous success of the Captur breaking into the annual Slovenian Top 5 this year at #5 with 1,392 sales, its best ranking outside of France. The Captur even outsold the Clio in January when it ranked third overall! The 2014 podium is completed by two VWs: the Golf up 11% (#1 in April, August and September) and the Polo up 42% (#1 in January and May).

In a Top 10 (34.8%) weighting more than in 2013 (33.6%) and 2012 (29.7%) in a rare case of consolidation in Slovenia, the Dacia Duster takes off at +173% and up 19 spots to a splendid 6th place and the Skoda Rapid is up 29 ranks and 187% to lodge its first annual Top 10 ranking in Slovenia at #9. Notice also the Dacia Sandero up 87% to #12, the Nissan Juke up 98% to #13, Seat Leon up 71% to #15, Fiat Panda up 73% to #18 and the Skoda Yeti up 117% to #22. The VW Golf Sportsvan is by far the most successful new launch of 2014 here, landing directly at #25 and peaking at #6 in August, followed by the Citroen C4 Cactus at #94.

The recovery of the Slovenian new car market continues: up a further 7% year-on-year in November to 4,220 deliveries which brings the year-to-date total to 49,923 units, up 3% on 2013. Volkswagen reclaims the brands top spot it lost to Renault last month thanks to 667 sales and 15.8% vs. 622 and 14.7% for Renault while Dacia impressively remains on the podium with a round 10% market share. The French-Romanian low-cost manufacturer places the Duster at #3 and 4.8% share this month vs. #5 and 2.6% YTD and the Sandero at #6 and 3.7% vs. #12 and 1.6% YTD. The Renault Clio is the overall best-seller at 7.2% followed by the VW Polo at 5.6%. Notice also the Nissan Qashqai up 25 spots on October to #9, the VW Golf Sportsvan strong again at #11, the Hyundai i20 up 49 ranks to #14 thanks to the new model, the VW Passat up 40 to #16, the Skoda Superb up 44 to #22, Alfa Romeo Giulietta up 47 to #23 and the Citroen C4 Cactus up 14 to #30.
