2012 Kia Cee’d

The Slovak car market is up a very solid 12% year-on-year in February to 5,370 registrations, bringing the 2012 year-to-date total to 10,171 units, up 10% on 2011. The Skoda Octavia is #1 for the 6th month in a row with 672 sales and 12.5% and is followed as usual by the Skoda Fabia at 506 units and 9.4%.

While the new generation of the model is being unveiled, the Kia Cee’d jumps back onto the podium for the second time in the last 3 months with 163 sales and 3%. The VW Polo is up 5 spots on January to a brilliant 4th place with 2.4% share, while the Dacia Duster is up 10 ranks to #5 and 2.1% of the market. The Skoda Roomster improves on an already outstanding January score, up 2 spots to #6 with 1.9%, while the BMW X6 is up 21 ranks to an excellent #31.

Skoda Octavia

Car sales in Slovakia are up an encouraging 9% in January 2012 at 4,808 registrations. Traditionally extremely strong in the country, Skoda does even better this month with fantastic performances of each and every model. The Skoda Octavia hits its highest ever monthly market share in Slovakia at 13.8% thanks to 664 sales. In second place, the Fabia is at its highest share since December 2008 at 11.5% and 554 units.

Skoda Fabia

Below the Kia Sportage rounding up the podium at 2.5% share and the VW Golf very robust at #4, the Skoda Yeti is up to equal#5 with the Kia Cee’d at 108 sales and 2.2% while the Roomster ranks #8 at 107 units. Exceptional performance of the Seat Leon up to 7th place with 108 sales, while the Kia Rio new generation continues its progression to #13 this month at 1.5% share. Other great performers this month include the Chevrolet Cruze at #17, VW Tiguan at #19, VW Jetta at #28, Mercedes B Class at #36 and Renault Scenic at #50.

Skoda Octavia

Slovak car sales are down 15% in December to 6,595 units, bringing the final 2011 total to 68,203 registrations, up 7% on 2010. The Skoda Octavia is the best-selling car in Slovakia for the 2nd year in a row with 6,100 sales and 8.9% share, up 7%. The Skoda Fabia comes in 2nd place at 4,973 units and 7.3%, up 4%. The Octavia was #1 for 11 months out of 12, with the Fabia leading by just 2 units in August.

Kia Sportage

The best performer this year in Slovakia is by far the locally produced Kia Sportage, up 18 spots and 181% to land on the year-end podium at #3 with 1,908 sales and 2.8%! The Sportage was very regular at the highest level, ranking on the podium 6 times out of 12 this year. The Suzuki SX4 stays 4th but sees its sales drop by 12% to 1,684 units, followed by the Kia Cee’d (-20%), VW Polo (+39%) and Golf (-11%).

Dacia Duster

The Dacia Duster has an outstanding first full year of sales in Slovakia, jumping 47 ranks and 310% to #8 with 1,200 sales and 1.8%. It even broke into the monthly podium in March. Other great 2011 performers include the VW Passat up 5 spots to #10, Renault Thalia up 80% to #13, Seat Ibiza up 92% to #15 and Ford Focus up 53% to #18. The best-performing all-new model is the Hyundai ix20 landing directly at #40, followed by the Peugeot 508 (#53) and Chevrolet Orlando (#60).

In December, two Skodas (Octavia, Fabia) are followed by two Kias (Cee’d, Sportage) and two VWs (Polo, Golf), the Hyundai ix35 is up to #13, the Seat Leon up to #14, the Kia Rio up to #15 and the VW Tiguan up to #17.

Skoda Yeti

Car sales in Slovakia are down 4% year-on-year in November at 5,903 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 61,608 units, up 9%. The Skoda Octavia stays on top for the 10th time this year with 529 sales and 9%, however this month the Skoda Fabia is catching up with a brilliant 507 units and 8.6% share. The VW Polo continues to impress and stays on the podium with 3% of the Slovak market.

Below, the VW Golf and Kia Cee’d are solid at #4 and #5 but the performance of the month goes to the Skoda Yeti, up 9 spots on October to land in 6th place with 129 sales and 2.2% share, by very far its best scores this year. It is #22 year-to-date at 1.1%. The Kia Sportage and Suzuki SX4 follow, slowing down slightly. Notice also the Peugeot 508 up to #24 and 1%, the brand’s best-seller in Slovakia this month.

VW Polo

The Slovak car market is down 6% in October at 5,751 registrations but still up 12% year-to-date at 55,705 units. The Top 2 best-selling models are the same as last month: the Skoda Octavia is in the lead with 532 sales and 9.3% vs. 8.9% year-to-date, and the Skoda Fabia ranks 2nd at 425 units and 7.4% vs. 7.2% year-to-date.

For the very first time in 2011 the VW Polo climbs onto the Slovak podium at #3 with a brilliant 170 sales and 3% share. It is followed by the Suzuki SX4 back to its traditional level at #4 and 2.7% and the Kia Sportage down 2 spots to a still very robust #5 and 2.7% share. Other good performers in the Top 10 are the VW Passat up to #7 and 2.4%, the Renault Fluence up 16 spots to #9 and the Skoda Roomster up to #10.

Further down the ranking, notice the Skoda Yeti up 8 ranks to #15, the facelifted Suzuki Swift up 22 spots to #18, the Citroen C4 up 35 ranks to #21, the VW Tiguan up 20 spots to #29 and the BMW X6 up 19 spots to #42, the best-selling BMW in Slovakia this month.

Kia Rio

Car sales in Slovakia are down 4% in September at 4,998 registrations, but the year-to-date total is still up by 14% at 49,954 units. The Skoda Octavia reclaims its traditional pole position with 552 sales and 11%, its highest share so far in 2011. It also leads the year-to-date ranking at 4,451 units and 8.9%. The Skoda Fabia at #2 with 305 sales and 6.1% and Kia Sportage at #3 with 152 units and 3% are both back to their traditional positions as well.

The VW Golf and Polo stay above their 2011 average shares at #4 and #5 while the Skoda Superb is up an impressive 26 spots on August to #7 with 108 sales and 2.2% share. The new generation Kia Rio is an instant hit in Slovakia: it lands directly in 15th position with 64 sales and 1.3%. Notice also the VW Touran up 66 spots to #27 and the Mercedes C Class up 56 spots to #28.

Skoda Fabia Combi

The Slovak new car market is stable again in August at 5,190 registrations, down 1% year-on-year. The year-to-date total is up 17% at 44,956 units. Big event this month: for the first time since 2009, the Skoda Fabia leads the market with 324 sales and 6.2% share, 44% of sales are the Combi version. This is however only 2 units above the Skoda Octavia which stays #1 year-to-date at 3,899 units and 8.7% vs. 3,307 and 7.4% for the Fabia.

The Suzuki SX4 is on the podium only for the second time this year after February with 153 sales and 2.9%, followed by the VW Golf at 2.8% and the VW Polo at 2.5%. The Kia Sportage is down to #6 this month but still #3 year-to-date at 1,310 units and 2.9%.

Further down the ranking, notice the Renault Megane up to #8 and the Citroen C3 up to #12. The Chevrolet Orlando excels in 31st position with 48 sales and just under 1% market share.

Kia Sportage

New car sales in Slovakia are stable this month at 5,583 registrations and up 19% year-to-date at 39,766 units. No surprise on top: the Skoda Octavia is still in the lead with 444 sales and 8% share but its margin over the Skoda Fabia has melted to a mere 19 units and 0.4% in July…

The Kia Sportage continues to excel, ranking third for the 5th time in 7 months at 162 units and 2.9%, reinforcing its 3rd position year-to-date. The VW Polo stays #4 while the Dacia Duster is up 5 spots on June to #5 with 146 sales and 2.6%. Notice the BMW 3 Series up 28 spots to #10, the Seat Altea and Leon both up 8 spots to #16 and #17, making it 3 Seats in the Top 20.

Seat Ibiza ST

Slovak consumers have bought 6,298 new cars in June, up 2% year-on-year, bringing the 1st Half 2011 figure to 34,183 units, up 23%. Skoda dominates the market again, placing the Octavia #1 with 619 sales (9.8%) and the Fabia #2 at 528 units (8.45%), both at stronger market shares than their 2011 levels.

The Kia Sportage continues to impress and manages to stay on the podium at a brilliant 2.7% market share, also #3 year-to-date at 3%. The VW Polo is up 3 spots to #4, followed by the Hyundai i30 (+1) and the Suzuki SX4 (+3). The Seat Ibiza breaks into the Slovak Top 10 at #9 with 111 sales (1.8%), thanks to the success the station wagon making up 45% of total sales.

Kia Sportage

Car sales in Slovakia are up a massive 32% in May at 6,513 registrations and 29% year-to-date at 27,885 units. The Skoda Octavia keeps the pole position with 608 sales and 9.3% share, higher than its year-to-date level (9%). The Skoda Fabia delivers another very solid month at 546 units and 8.4%, well ahead of its 2011 share (7.3%).

For the 3rd time this year, the locally built Kia Sportage ranks #3 in Slovakia and even though its share dropped to 2.7% this month, it reinforced its 3rd spot in the year-to-date ranking at 851 sales and 3.1%. The Opel Astra, helped by its Station Wagon version (41% of sales) jumps 11 spots to #4 at 163 units and 2.5%, followed by the Kia Cee’d (+1) and Hyundai i30 (+13).

Seat Altea

Other good performers this month in Slovakia include the Peugeot 3008 at #18 (+29 spots on April), the Seat Altea at #19, better than in its native Spain where it ranked #20 in May, and the Seat Leon at #21. Notice also the Peugeot 508 breaking into the Top 40 at #40 and the Audi A6 up 28 spots to #47.
