Kuwait Full Year 2019: Toyota Land Cruiser ends 8 straight years of Prado domination in strong market (+9.7%)

New vehicle sales in Kuwait bounce back up 9.7% to 109.605 units. Toyota (+15.5%) outpaces the market’s growth to hit 32.3% share, as does Nissan (+10.7%) to 10.9%. Chevrolet (+4.5%) and Kia (+1.5%) both overtake Mitsubishi (-24%) to land at #3 and #4 respectively. Ford (+18.6%) and Honda (+15.1%) also over-perform while Lexus (+9.8%) matches the market and Hyundai (+2.6%) and GMC (+0.2%) post weak gains. Further down, MG (+74.5%) is up 4 spots to #12 just as Peugeot (+159.5%), Suzuki (+35%), Mazda (+34%), Renault (+23.6%) and Jeep (+18.8%) all secure spectacular gains. Newcomer Changan lands directly inside the Top 20 at #19. Ram (+91.4%), Lincoln (+53.2%), Chrysler (+61.6%) and Isuzu (+48.7%) also stand out among smaller brands.
Model-wise, the Toyota Land Cruiser (+31.6%) lurches up 3 spots on 2018 to sign its very first annual win in Kuwait this decade, ending 8 consecutive years of domination by the Toyota Prado (-12.1%). The Toyota Camry (+3%) remains on the third step of the podium, holding off the Nissan Sunny (+120.4%) by just 5 units. The Toyota Corolla (+27.6%) and Hilux (+19%) follow ahead of the Kia Sportage (+26.7%), with the Nissan Patrol (+20.4%) also very strong in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, the Toyota Rush (+250.3%), Mazda6 (+201%), Mitsubishi L200 (+131.1%), Ford F-Series (+59%) and Toyota RAV4 (+41.5%) stand out while the Honda HR-V (#49) is the only 2019 launch to crack the annual Top 50.
