New car sales in Colombia edge up 2.2% year-on-year in February to 18.350 units, yet the year-to-date volume remains in negative territory at -1.1% to 34.797 registrations. The Top 2 brands are in decline though: Chevrolet drops 6% to 20.6% share while Renault is down 11% to 18.4%. Reversely, Kia (+6%), Nissan (+2%), Mazda (+11%) and most strikingly Toyota (+49%) all post year-on-year gains in the remainder of the Top 6. Volkswagen (+31%) and BMW (+20%) also shine in the Top 10 whereas Ford struggles at -20%. Further down, Citroen (+190%), Peugeot (+158%), Audi (+125%), Dongfeng (+116%), JMC (+115%), Subaru (+91%), Mitsubishi (+88%), Honda (+85%), Jeep (+74%), Foton (+55%) and Mercedes (+37%) all help the market up. Over in the models ranking, the Renault Sandero (-11%) reclaims the top spot off the Chevrolet Spark (+16%), while the Kia Picanto is up 3 spots on January to #3 ahead of the Renault Logan and Chevrolet Sail. The Toyota Hilux (+220%), Fortuner (+137%) and Prado (+63%) are the heroes of the Top 50, with the all-new Chevrolet Beat making its very first appearance directly at #24.
