Poland October 2016: Skoda (+26%) beats market up 8.5%

The Polish new car market is up 8.5% year-on-year in October to 36.821 registrations including light commercials, bringing the year-to-date tally up 17% to 384.076 units. Skoda outpaces the market at +26% to 12.4% share vs. 11.3% year-to-date, distancing Volkswagen (-3%) and Opel up a stunning 25% to 8.2%. Hyundai is up 4 spots on last month to #8, Kia is up 13% to #9, Mercedes up 27% to #10, Dacia up 16% to #12 and BMW up 46% to #13. The Top 5 best-selling models replicate the year-to-date order, with the podium being particularly dynamic: the Skoda Octavia (+29%) leads the way above the Skoda Fabia (+22%) and Opel Astra (+31%) with the VW Golf (-6%) and Toyota Yaris (+8%) in tow. Just below, the Skoda Rapid (+29%), Hyundai Tucson (+26%) and Opel Corsa (+34%) impress. Notice also the Renault Megane (+138%), VW Tiguan (+67%), Skoda Citigo (+91%) and Toyota Corolla (+49%). Among recent launches, the Fiat Tipo (#34) and Mazda CX-3 (#42) dominate.
