Final data for Europe in September is now available, coming just a tad below the preliminary figures at 1.489.343 sales across 29 countries, up 6.9% year-on-year and leading to a year-to-date tally up 7.6% to 11.550.668. The Top 10 brands order is 100% confirmed, with the two main year-to-date shifts also confirmed: Ford (813.755) is now above Renault (812.338) for 2nd place and Mercedes (638.033) bypasses Audi (636.589) for the #1 luxury spot, albeit with an higher-than-previous 1.444 sales advantage. Outside the Top 10, Dacia (+16.7%), Kia (+17.2%), Mini (+21.3%), Alfa Romeo (+39.3%), Jaguar (+45.5%), Land Rover (+52%), Infiniti (+144.4%) and Tesla (+207.4%) are among the biggest gainers. Citroen (-10%), Subaru (-11.5%) and DS (-15.5%) struggle.

Model-wise, the entire Top 10 is confirmed, with the VW Golf (-14.7%), Ford Fiesta (-7.7%), VW Polo (+10.4%), Opel Corsa (-1.6%) and Renault Clio (+7.5%) in the lead. The only change in the Top 20 is the Renault Captur now ranking above the Skoda Octavia at #11. The Mercedes A-Class is up 31.4% to #24, the Hyundai Tucson up 122.2% to #27, the Renault Mégane up 64.2% to #29 thanks to the new generation, the Ford Kuga up 50% to #30, the Kia Sportage up 35.1% to #32, the Renault Kadjar up 91% to #34 and the Hyundai i20 up 28.4% to #40. The BMW X1 (+835%), Mercedes GLC (+193%) and Range Rover Evoque (+143%) all take off and fit within the Top 65.

The Fiat Tipo is the most popular recent launch (<12 months) despite falling 23 ranks on August to #81. Just below, it’s an extremely impressive performance by the Jaguar F-Pace up 40 spots on last month to #116, the best-selling Jaguar on the continent and now representing 42.2% of the brand’s sales (25.2% year-to-date). The Seat Ateca is also flexing its muscles, gaining 55 ranks to #119, ahead of the Suzuki Baleno (#152), Kia Niro (#155), Ford Ka+ (#172) and Alfa Romeo Giulia (#173). This month we welcome the Tesla Model X (#181) and Toyota Proace (#260) in the European sales charts.
