United Arab Emirates January-April 2016: Mitsubishi Lancer EX stays #1, Pajero up to #3

New car sales in the UAE are down 18% year-on-year to 111.065 units during the first four months of 2016, reflecting the downward trend that is affecting the region. The Top 3 most popular manufacturers all evolve roughly like the market and more or less hold on to their market share: Toyota is down 21%, Nissan down 19% and Mitsubishi down 16%. Reversely, BMW manages to gain 1%, overtaking both Hyundai (-31%) and Ford (-28%) to soar to #4 brand overall. Lexus (-4%) also jumps two spots to #7, with Land Rover (-10%), Isuzu (-9%), Infiniti (+8%), Dodge (+3%), Jaguar (-5%), Volvo (+74%) and Ram (+52%) also outperforming the market. Geely (#30) and SAIC-MG (#31) are the only two Chinese brands in the ranking, while Opel makes an appearance at #34.

The Mitsubishi Lancer EX manages to stay atop the models ranking despite a 10% drop to 6.406 units, just enough to outsell the Toyota Land Cruiser at 6.333. Mitsubishi also places the Pajero at #3 with deliveries up 10% to 5.944, overtaking the Toyota Hilux (-39%). The Nissan Patrol (-13%) and Toyota Prado (-26%) hold onto their rankings while the Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup (-3%) is up four spots to #7. In fact, Toyota places 8 nameplates inside the Top 12, ending with the Fortuner up 24% to #12. Notice the Nissan X-Trail up 59% to #17, the BMW X4 up 206% to #27 and the Hyundai Creta landing directly at #37 with 758 units sold.
