Slovenia January-February 2016: Clio and Octavia take turns at #1

It’s a good start of the year for new car sales in Slovenia, up 13% in January to 5.823 registrations and up 5% in February to 4.762, lifting the year-to-date total to 10.585 units, up 9% on the same period a year ago. Renault takes the lead of the brands ranking in January thanks to sales up 24% to 873 vs. 852 (+6%) for Volkswagen, but the German manufacturer reclaims the #1 spot in February at 768 sales (+1%) vs. 504 (-34%) for Renault dropping to #3 overall. Skoda is up 68% in third place in January and up 24% in 2nd place in February, Hyundai is up 72% at #4 in January but drops to #7 in February, still outpacing the market at +18%. Ford (+92%), BMW (+125%) and Fiat (+312%) all post spectacular February gains. Model-wise, the Renault Clio holds 11.1% market share in January ahead of the VW Golf (4.9%) and Skoda Octavia (4%), VAG monopolising the remainder of the Top 6 with the Fabia (#4), Polo (#5) and Passat (#6). The Hyundai i20 is up to #7, the Fiat Panda up to #8, Dacia Sandero up to #9 and Hyundai Tucson up to #13. The Skoda Octavia leads the way in February at 5% share above the VW Golf (4.4%) and Renault Clio (3.9%) but the Clio remains on top year-to-date. The Opel Astra is up to #6, the Renault Captur up to #7, VW Touran up to #9 and Kia Sportage up to #11.
