Finland January-February 2016: Octavia and Qashqai hold tight
The new generation boosts Finnish Opel Astra sales up 231% so far in 2016.

It’s a flamboyant start of the year for new car registrations in Finland: up 15% in January to 11.722 units and up a further 21% in February to 9.567 to lift the year-to-date total to 21.294 sales after two months, up 17% on the same period in 2015. Volkswagen is once again the favourite marque in Finland but it fares slightly worse than the market at +16% to 11.4% share, while Skoda (+26%) and Toyota (+24%) are catching up, both at 10.4%. Opel (+58%), Honda (+75%), Seat (+45%), Mazda (+43%) and Suzuki (+232%) lodge the largest year-on-year gains in the Top 20. Model-wise, the Skoda Octavia (-15%) and Nissan Qashqai (+6%) hold tight on top just as the Toyota Auris (+40%), Ford Focus (+89%) and Toyota Avensis (+42%) make great progress. The new gen Opel Astra (+231%) and Skoda Superb (+201%) get a welcome boost as does the runout Audi A4 (+121%).
