Today we are able to share with you extremely rare data for Uganda. The Ugandan light vehicle market is up 11% year-on-year in 2015 to 2.786 registrations, a new all-time record eclipsing the 2.726 sold in 2008. Toyota remains ultra-dominant but gains less ground than the market at +3%, resulting in a slightly lower market share at 36.5% vs. 39.3% a year ago. Like in 2014, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Ford and Tata follow, with the latter two posting extravagant gains: +87% and +84% respectively.

Ford Ranger Uganda 2015Same story for the Ford Ranger, up 92%.

Pickup trucks hold 54% of the total Ugandan market in 2015, and the models ranking fully reflects this: the Toyota Hilux is in the lead with 19.5% share thanks to sales up 39% even though the new generation hasn’t hit the market yet, followed by the Nissan Hardbody (+9%), Ford Ranger (+92%) and Mitsubishi L200 (+6%) in tow. Add the Tata Xenon (#7), Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup (#9) and Isuzu TFS (#10) to make it seven pickups inside the Top 10. The Toyota Corolla (#13) is the best-selling sedan in the country and the only one inside the Top 20.
