Argentina January 2016: Chevrolet outsells VW in market down 15%

After showing sign of recovery during the last Quarter of 2015 (+21% in October+29% in November and +3% in December), the Argentinean new car market is back in negative territory in January at -15% to 56.511 registrations, that’s a 48% drop on the January 2014 figure. Like it did in December, Chevrolet tops the brands charts with 8.489 sales and 15% share (-12%), edging past traditional leader Volkswagen at 8.387 (-30%) and Ford at 8.177 (-9%). Fiat is up two spots on last month to #4, Toyota is actually up 19% year-on-year in 5th place whereas Peugeot (-21%) and Renault (-33%) plunge.

Notice Honda more than doubling its sales year-on-year (+115%) to land in 10th place thanks to the HR-V (#27), Agrale doing the same at +111%, and Audi (+7%), Ram (+14%), Volvo (+30%) and BMW (+32%) also posting positive results. Model-wise, the Fiat Palio (+11%) takes the lead above the Chevrolet Classic (+28%), Toyota Hilux (-2%) and Fiat Siena (+11%) while the Toyota Etios (+29%) and Corolla (+77%) impress at #5 and #6 respectively.
