Taiwan Full Year 2015: Toyota monopolises Top 4, Mazda3 shoots up

The Taiwanese new car market is down 0.7% year-on-year in 2015 to 420.780 registrations, and still dominated by Toyota at 28.3% share despite sales down 5% to 119.098. Toyota sells more than the next three manufacturers combined: Nissan at 10.3% (-9%), Mitsubishi/CMC at 10% (-3%) and Honda at 6.6% (+12%). Notice also Mercedes up 12% to 21.542 sales, Mazda up 48% to #7 with 21.311 deliveries and BMW up 15% to  19.533. Local carmaker Luxgen holds its spot inside the annual Top 10 even though it drops 20% to 13.375 units.

The Toyota Corolla remains the most popular nameplate in the country by far with a round 10% market share (-6%) followed like in 2014 by the Toyota RAV4 (+9%). With the Yaris up 14% to third place and the Wish down 12% to #4, Toyota monopolies the Top 4 in 2015, knocking the Nissan Tiida (-23%) down to #5. The CMC Veryca is up three spots to #7, the Mazda3 is up 3-fold on its 2014 score to #8 thanks to the new models and the Luxgen U6 Turbo holds its Top 10 spot at #9. The Nissan X-Trail is the best-selling all-new model, landing directly at #16 with 7.794 sales, followed by the Honda Odyssey at #43 and 2.112 deliveries and the Suzuki SX4 Crossover at #50.

The Mercedes C-Class leads the luxury charge at #21 with 5.321 units (+10%) ahead of the Mercedes E-Class (#24) and BMW 5 Series (#27). The CMC Zinger is up 21% to #20, the Mitsubishi Outlander up 51% to #22, Mazda CX-5 up 72% to #23, Lexus NX up 166% to #29 for its first full year in market, the Luxgen M7 Turbo is up 54% to #36, the BMW 2 Series up 252% to #42 thanks to its MPV variants, the Volvo S60 up 33% to #47 and the Porsche Macan up 57% to #51.
