* NOW UPDATED with the Top 150 best-selling models and Top 45 brands *

Spectacular 23.5% year-on-year improvement for Italian new car sales in November to 134.021 units, lifting the year-to-date total up 15.5% or almost 200.000 sales to 1.464.747. That would put a smile on the face of many Italian dealers and salespeople. Like last month, Fiat outpaces its home market with sales up a fantastic 30% to 27.860 for a 20.8% market share, while the Top 7 best-selling carmakers are absolutely identical to the year-to-date ranking. Below Fiat we find Volkswagen, also gaining more ground than the market at +28%, Ford (+30%), Renault (+29%), Opel (+13%), Peugeot (+23%) and Toyota (-3%). Mercedes shoots up 31% to 8th place overall vs. #11 so far in 2015, Citroen is up 42%, Jeep up 67%, Smart up 74%, Land Rover up 58% and Mazda up 66%.

Model-wise, the big event this month is the first ever podium ranking of the Fiat 500X, shooting up three spots on October to land at a stunning third place thanks to 4.604 sales and 3.4% share, only outsold by the Fiat Panda (7.3%) and Punto (3.8%) and making the podium 100% Fiat for only the third time this year after January (Panda-500L-Punto) and May (Panda-Punto-500L). The Lancia Ypsilon is relegated to #4 but the Renault Clio (+27%) stays at #5 and remains the most popular foreigner above the Ford Fiesta (+10%), VW Polo (+31%) and Golf (+34%) both outpacing the Italian market despite the diesel scandal. The Fiat 500 (+38%) is finally feeling the benefits of its facelift and reclaims a spot inside the Top 10, the Jeep Renegade is up 4 to #13, the Citroen C3 more than doubles its sales to #18, the Ford Ecosport breaks its ranking record for the 2nd consecutive month at #23 and the Hyundai Tucson shines again at #27. The Opel Karl (#41), Renault Kadjar (#43) and Suzuki Vitara (#50) stay strong.
