Malaysia August 2015: Discover the Top 60 models (BSCB exclusive)

The Malaysian new car market is up 4.5% year-on-year in August to 53.452 registrations, however the year-to-date total is still in negative territory at 434.282 units, down 2% on 2014. Perodua frankly out-performs the market at +14% to 16.589 sales and 31% share, almost double is local archenemy Proton up just 5% to 9.040 units. Toyota (+4%) and Honda (+2%) lose market share vs. a year ago, but the following five manufacturers all lodge outstanding year-on-year gains: Nissan (+17%), Mazda (+18%), Isuzu (+17%) and most impressive of all: Mercedes almost doubling its sales (+95%) to 1.005 deliveries and 1.9% share. Reversely, Chevrolet (-48%), Volvo (-52%), Hyundai (-52%), Peugeot (-60%) and Kia (-76%) all implode.

Once again and exclusive to BSCB we can share with you models data for Malaysia, showing the Perodua Axia cementing its domination at 8.361 sales and 15.6% share above the Proton Saga very solid at 9.2% share and the Perodua Myvi at 8.1%. Note the Saga is now only 170 units below the Myvi for #2 year-to-date. The Honda HR-V is down one spot on July to a still very impressive 8th position and 3.4% share while the Proton Iriz holds its own inside the Malaysian Top 10 at #10. Further down, notice the VW Polo at #21 vs. #32 year-to-date, the Mazda2 at #39 vs. #63, the Toyota Fortuner (#45) and Toyota Rush (#50) reappearing in the Top 50 and the Mercedes GLE (#58) breaking into the Malaysian Top 60 for the very first time.
