Mexican car buyers are snapping up more new vehicles than ever before this year: May marks the 5th consecutive record month with a best-ever 101.982 registrations, up a fantastic 16% on 2014 and the first time May sales are above the 100.000 mark. Year-to-date levels are up a massive 21% on 2014 to an all-time high 502.935 units after 5 months. Once again Nissan outpaces the market with sales up 21% on May 2014 to 26.545 deliveries and 26% share, while the next six manufacturers all gain ground but lose market share: General Motors (+10%), Volkswagen (+13%), FCA (+8%), Ford, Toyota (both at +13%) and Honda (+12%) follow Nissan. Mazda takes off at +44% in 8th place and Hyundai celebrates one year in market by breaking its ranking and share volume at #9 and 2% thanks to 2.049 sales.

Over in the models ranking, the Chevrolet Aveo logically keeps its throne thanks to 5.473 sales but the VW Vento is fast catching up: up 55% year-on-year and back up to 2nd place like last March but only 510 units below the Aveo – the smallest gap between the two nameplates so far to be compared with 1.356 in April and 920 in March. The Nissan Versa follows with the antediluvian Tsuru back above the Chevrolet Spark at #4.
