Thanks to data communicated by SMMT I can share with you the Top 10 best-selling models for each UK nation for March. With an overall market up 6% to the best monthly score this century, sales in each UL nation are bound to be extremely strong. In fact England (+7% to 419.826 units) pulls the rest of the country up, with Scotland (44.826) and Wales (19.238) both up just 3% on March 2014 and Northern Ireland even lodging a negative performance at -2% to 7.415 units. Very rare feat: the same 3 nameplates monopolise the podium of each UK nation this month: the Ford Fiesta tops 3 nations, only outsold in Scotland by the Vauxhall Corsa, itself #2 in all other nations while the Ford Focus ranks third everywhere…

In England – accounting for 85% of the country’s sales this month, the Mercedes C-Class outperforms both in March when it ranks #7 with 8,076 sales vs. #8 overall, overtaking the Vauxhall Astra, and year-to-date where it now also holds the #7 spot vs. #9 in the overall UK ranking, dominating both the Audi A3 and VW Polo. The remaining UK nations, much smaller markets, are the opportunity for other nameplates to find a spot in the Top 10: a few nameplates absent from the overall UK Top 10 place well within it: the Vauxhall Mokka does so in all remaining UK nations (#5 in Scotland, #7 in Northern Ireland and #9 in Wales), the Renault Clio (#4 in Scotland and #6 in Northern Ireland), Ford Kuga (#6 in Wales and #9 in Northern Ireland) and Peugeot 208 (#8 in Wales and #9 in Scotland) do it twice while the Toyota Yaris (#7 in Wales) and Renault Captur (#10 in Northern Ireland) also make an appearance.
