Ireland March 2015: Nissan Note and Pulsar impress

Exceptional strength of the Irish new car market, up 32.5% year-on-year in March to 19,023 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 64,691 units, up 29% on the same period in 2014 which was itself up 27% on 2013. Ireland is on a roll indeed. The brands podium is unchanged on February with Volkswagen holding the top spot with 12.2% share, followed by Nissan (10.9%) and Ford (10.7%) but Toyota up 73% to 10.7% also and Hyundai up 67% to 10.1% are very close behind. Notice also Dacia up 68%, Citroen up 67% and Land Rover up 130%. The VW Golf remains the most popular nameplate in the country thanks to 848 sales and 4.5% above the Ford Focus at 4.3%, and if the Nissan Qashqai is down 30% on March 2014 to #3, the Nissan Note up 103% to #12, Pulsar new at #17 and Juke up 164% to #20 more than compensate for the Japanese manufacturer. The Toyota Corolla is up 114% to #4, VW Passat up 78% to #7, Toyota Yaris up 105% to #9 and Ford Mondeo up 205% to #16.
