Czech Republic March 2015: Fabia up again in all-time record month

The Czech new car market is up an astounding 28% year-on-year in March to 21,155 registrations, the biggest ever month in the history of automobile in the country and the first time more than 20,000 new cars found a buyer in a single month, smashing the previous record of 18,171 units established last June. The year-to-date total now stands at 53,265 deliveries, up 24% on 2014. Local manufacturer Skoda continues to dominate the sales charts head and shoulders with 6,650 sales and 31.4% share, ahead of Volkswagen with 2,510 units and 11.9% share (1,936 without re-exports), Hyundai at 1,715 and Ford at 1,299 (808 without re-exports). Dacia, #5 in the overall ranking with 1,028 sales, is #4 once again with re-exports removed.

In the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia slips down just under 10% share while the Fabia continues to progress thanks to the new model, gaining one percentage point on February to 7.5% thanks to 1,597 registrations. The Skoda Rapid and VW Golf follow and hold onto their positions, while the Hyundai ix20 is up 3 spots to a shiny 5th place. Notice also the Skoda Citigo up 5 to #8, the Seat Leon up 7 to #11, Nissan Qashqai up 8 to #16, Opel Astra up 16 to #21, the Nissan Pulsar up to #78 and the Fiat 500X breaking into the Czech Top 100 for the first time at #80.
