After reaching record heights both in 2013 and 2014, the Canadian new car market continues on its incredible run in January: up another 3% year-on-year to 99,160 registrations. FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) spectacularly takes the lead of the groups ranking with 18.2% share above Ford Motor Co. (14.7%), General Motors (11.7%), Toyota (11.6%) and Hyundai-Kia (10.7%). Brand-wise, Ford (14.4%) and Toyota (10.2%) are head and shoulders above the competition, with Hyundai (6.9%), Honda (6.6%), Ram up 10% to #5 and Nissan up 15% to #6 following. Notice also GMC and Volkswagen up 12%, Jeep and Subaru up 14%, Cadillac up 22%, Porsche up 24%, Audi up 26% and Chrysler and Lexus both up an outstanding 39%.

Model-wise, the Ford F-Series starts the year with a bang, posting a 15% year-on-year increase to 7,847 sales while the Ram Pickup also improves in 2nd place at +7% and 5,921 deliveries. In fact, only one nameplate in the Top 12 (the Honda Civic) loses ground year-on-year. The Dodge Grand Caravan, starting to feel the benefits of discounted prices ahead of its termination launch later this year, lands on the podium for only the 2nd time in the past 29 months at #3 (+23%), the Hyundai Elantra is the best-selling passenger car in the country this month at #4 (+15%), the GMC Sierra (#5) and Toyota RAV4 (#6) hit rare Canadian heights and the Ford Escape is up a flamboyant 55% on January 2014 at #7.
