The Bulgarian new car market is up 7% year-on-year in 2014 to an estimated 25,939 registrations. Dacia accentuates its domination of the market with sales up 23% to 3,085 units, almost reaching 12% market share. It is followed by Volkswagen and Toyota keeping their ranking vs. 2013, while Skoda (+20%) and Renault (+19%) both advance one spot and Ford (+61%) gains two. A caveat to these results: Bulgaria sales are skewed by re-exports to other European Union countries, with a large portion of new deliveries never making it to local roads – as much as 30% – thanks to Bulgaria displaying some of the lowest car prices in the EU. See here for more on this phenomenon.

Over in the models ranking the Dacia Dokker is up a splendid 30% on an already winning year in 2013 to top the charts for the 2nd consecutive year, becoming the only nameplate to sell over 1.000 units this year in Bulgaria (1,224). The Skoda Octavia gains even more ground at +61% in 2nd place, knocking the Nissan Qashqai down to #3. The Ford Fiesta is up 80% to #4, the Renault Captur up 122% to #7, the Skoda Rapid up 134% to #9 and the Toyota Corolla up 204% to #10.
