The Norwegian new car market is down 5% year-on-year in September to 11,585 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 107,104, still in positive at +1% on 2013. Volkswagen is king of the Norway castle once again thanks to 1,707 sales and 14.7% (very close to its year-to-date level) while Toyota claws its way back up at 12.6% share in 2nd position, over one percentage point above its 2014 level. Volvo gets a boost at 7.8% in third place as do Mazda at #7 vs. #10 so far in 2014 and Subaru at #14 vs. #19. The e-Golf continues to significantly lift the nameplate’s sales in Norway: now standing at 8.1% share thanks to 939 sales, well above the 6.3% it commands year-to-date.

The Toyota Auris and Nissan Leaf are faithful to the #2 and #3 respective spots they hold year-to-date (+1 for the Leaf) while the Mitsubishi Outlander takes advantage of its PHEV variant to break back into the Top 5 for the first time since May 2013. Other great performers this month in Norway include the Volvo S60 up to #14, the Kia Sportage up to #15, Mazda3 up to #18, Mercedes C-Class up to #25, Kia Soul up to #27, Peugeot 508 up to #33 and Nissan X-Trail up to #39. Reversely the Tesla Model S is starting to pant a little, down 17 spots on August to #32 vs. #4  year-to-date.
