Switzerland August 2014: Mercedes GLA breaks into Top 10!

Switzerland is the first country in the world to allow the Mercedes GLA in the Top 10.

The Swiss new car market is not quite there yet: down 6% year-on-year in August to 19,783 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 197,258 registrations, down 3% on 2013. Below the VW Golf at 4.4% and the Skoda Octavia at 3.7%, the VW Polo maintains itself on the podium at #3 ahead of the Audi A3 at #4 while the Peugeot 308 is up a huge 31 spots on July to land in 5th position thanks to 351 sales and 1.8% share. But the best performance of the month in Switzerland is delivered by the Mercedes GLA: after missing out for 9 units back in May, it breaks into the Top 10 for the first time in any country in the world at #10 with 254 sales and 1.3% market share.

Other great performers this month include the Mini Cooper at #8 vs. #38 year-to-date thanks to the new generation, the Suzuki Swift up 25 ranks to #15, Mazda CX-5 up 39 to #17, Seat Alhambra up 9 to #22, BMW 4 Series at #26, BMW X5 up 33 to #27, VW Sharan up 11 to #28 vs. #51 year-to-date and the Fiat 500L up 34 to #49.
