Norwegian new car sales are down 2% year-on-year in August to 11,444 registrations, however the year-to-date total remains in positive territory at +2% over 2013 to 95,519 units. Volkswagen is the most popular manufacturer in the country once again with a strong 18% share vs. 14.6% year-to-date, placing the Golf at #1 and 9.4% share, well ahead of its level at home in Germany and the 2nd consecutive month above 9%. This sales boost for the #1 best-seller in the country is to be attributed to the launch of the e-Golf variant here, instantly successful in the kingdom of electric cars.
