Another very satisfying month for new car sales in Spain: up a beautiful 24% year-on-year in June to 90,265 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 455,362 units, up 18% on 2013. This is the best June score since 2010 (121,649). There is one winner and one winner only in the brands ranking this month: shooting up from its traditional 5th place, Renault gains 50% on June 2013 to become the first manufacturer to sell over 10,000 monthly units in at least 4 years at 10,828 sales and an out-of-this-word 12% share. Opel (+26%) takes the 2nd spot ahead of Volkswagen (+49%), Seat (+5%) and Ford (+52%). Fiat (+52%), Kia (+55%), Mazda (+93%), Honda (+47%) and Lancia (+80%) also shine.

Opel Corsa Spain June 2014The Opel Corsa is the best-selling model in Spain this month.

After 3 consecutive months dominated by the Seat Ibiza, the models ranking gets a proper reshuffle, keeping in mind this time of year is heavily influenced by rental company purchases in anticipation of summer holidays. Like last year, the Opel Corsa is the most popular vehicle in the country in June with 3,916 sales and 4.3% but the real star of the month is the Renault Mégane up 15 spots on May to #2 at 3,891 units and 4.3% also, with Renault even placing two models on the podium with the Clio up 3 ranks to #3. The Seat Ibiza (#6) and Leon (#5) are down but remain the Top 2 best-sellers year-to-date.
