Poland May 2014: Skoda Octavia and Ford Focus dominate

New car sales in Poland are up a robust 10% year-on-year in May to 27,724 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 165,797 units, up a fantastic 21% on 2013. Note these figures include light commercial vehicles. Brand-wise, below an ultra-dominant Skoda (12.3% share), Ford (8.6%), Volkswagen (8.4%) and Opel (8.2%) benefit from a weak month at Toyota (6.9%) to all gain one spot on April while the Japanese manufacturer drops 3 to #5. Citroen is up to #9 and Mazda up to #15.

In the models ranking, the Skoda Octavia reclaims the top spot it has held for 8 of the last 10 months off the Skoda Fabia (leader in April) thanks to 1,014 sales and 3.7% share while the Ford Focus excels, up 3 spots on last month to #2 at 919 units and 3.3%, and now #3 year-to-date like in 2013. The VW Golf remains extremely strong in third position and 3% share vs. #6 and 2.2% so far in 2014, the Opel Astra is up 2 ranks on April to #5, the Renault Master up 8 to #10, Opel Insignia up to #18 and the new gen Citroen C4 Picasso breaks into the Polish Top 50 and Top 25 for the first time at #25. Notice also the Ford Ka up 18 spots to #32, Opel Mokka up to #34, Mazda3 up to #37 and Kia Rio up to #38.
