How good does it feel to finally deliver good news about the Greek new car market month after month? Very good indeed. New registrations are up a spectacular 42% year-on-year in May to 7,459 units, bringing the year-to-date total to 29,505 sales, up 19% on 2014. This month the Opel Corsa reclaims the top spot in the models sales charts thanks to 361 sales and 4.8% share but remains #2 year-to-date (just) below the Toyota Yaris at 1,676 units vs. 1,685. The heat is on! And we have a third contender to the pole position in May: boosted by the new generation, the Nissan Qashqai is up a stellar 26 spots on April to land in 2nd place only 14 units off the #1 spot at 347 sales and 4.7%. Add to this the Nissan Micra very robust at #4 and 4.4% share and Nissan takes the lead of the brands ranking this month with 11.5% share ahead of Toyota at 10% and Volkswagen at 8.8%. Notice also the Suzuki Alto up 11 ranks to #5, the Audi A3 up 20 to #7 and the Seat Mii up 35 to #11.
