New car sales in Bulgaria are up 6% year-on-year in May to an estimated 2,163 units, bringing the year-to-date total to 10,506 units, up 14% on 2013. Bulgarian sales data is always to be taken with a pinch of salt as a large portion of new car sales in the country never make it to local roads but are re-exported elsewhere in the European Union, given Bulgaria is home to some of the lowest car prices in the EU. See here for more on this phenomenon. In this context, Dacia keeps the brands lead by far with 267 sales and 12.3% ahead of Volkswagen (9.2%), Skoda (8.8%), Renault (8.7%) and Ford (8%).
