After studying the European brands ranking in detail yesterday, let’s now have a look at the models ranking, in a market brilliantly up year-on-year for the 6th consecutive month. Below the VW Golf up 5% at 34,318 sales, the Renault Clio is back up 2 spots on January to land in 2nd place for the 7th time in the last 13 months in spite of sales down 5% to 21,236 units. Weirdly enough, the Clio has ranked #2 every second month without fail since February 2013! Among superminis, notice also the Ford Fiesta up a cool 19% and the Opel Corsa up 21%.
Once again the best performance in the Top 10 is delivered by the Skoda Octavia, up a gigantic 39% year-on-year to #7 with 14,941 sales. This is the Octavia’s 5th consecutive month in the Top 10 and its 6th time at this level in the last 7 months whereas it had only broken into the European Top 10 once before that (in January 2012)… The Nissan Qashqai is back inside the Top 10 but still down 17% year-on-year waiting for the new generation to kick in. Finally, let’s notice the Fiat Panda delivering its annual stint among the 10 most popular vehicles in the continent (its last time was in February 2013), simply because February figures put Italy at an advantage vs. the UK and France, boosting the ranking of strong sellers in Italy each year.
