The Bulgarian new car market is remarkably stable this year, going from 24,778 registrations in 2012 to 24,771 in 2013. Firstly a bit of warning on Bulgaria data: an estimated 30% of overall sales get re-exported to various countries in the European Union, therefore the rankings displayed here are not exactly a reflection of the Bulgarian customer’s taste. In the brands ranking, Dacia flamboyantly takes the lead in-extremis (it wasn’t #1 until December!), up 27% on 2012 to 2,503 sales and 10.1% share, passing Volkswagen (9.6%) and Toyota (8.6%) with Peugeot (+25%) and Skoda (-2%) rounding up the Top 25. For its second year as a local producer, Great Wall is struggling: down 54% and 9 spots to #15 with 672 sales and 2.7% share.

Nissan Qashqai Bulgaria 2013Can the 2014 model push the Nissan Qashqai to pole position next year?

If in 2012 the Dacia Logan MCV topped the models ranking, this year another Dacia gets this honour: the Dokker is the most popular vehicle in the country in 2013 with 938 sales and 3.8% vs. just one unit sold last year…  The Nissan Qashqai also has a fantastic year, multiplying its sales by 4 year-on-year and up 28 spots to land in 2nd position with 890 units and 3.6%. The Kia Sportage, up 18% on last year, is up one rank to round up the podium with 709 sales and 2.9% while the Dacia Sandero is up a splendid 64% and 13 spots to #4 at 598 units and 2.4%. The Renault Clio IV is the best-selling all-new entrant, landing directly in 6th place with 511 sales and 2.1%, followed by the Renault Captur at #22 but peaking at #4 in December, the Skoda Rapid at #38 and the Fiat 500L at #82. Notice also the Toyota Auris up 52% to #7, the Great Wall Voleex C10 down 18% to #10, Kia Rio up 140% to #18 and the Peugeot 301 up 848% to #26.
