New car sales in Egypt are down 2% year-on-year in 2013 to 195,869 registrations, and for the 4th year in a row the Hyundai Verna, an Accent from two generations ago mainly used as a taxi, is the most popular model in the country in spite of sales down 9% to 19,402 units and 9.9% share. The Chevrolet TFR, a previous generation Isuzu D-Max, holds onto its 2nd position with sales down 2% to 18,182 and 9.3% share. But the big event this year is the astounding progression of the Geely Emgrand 7, only 75th with 301 sales and 0.2% share in 2012, to land directly on the Egyptian models podium in 2012 at #3 with 9,375 sales and 4.8% share! The Emgrand 7 even ranked #2 in August and was inside the Top 4 for 7 of the last 8 months of the year.
