Final 2013 figures for Tunisia include Light Commercial Vehicles which explains the discrepancies in the rankings and total sales. The Tunisian new car market is down 2% year-on-year in 2013 to 47,959 registrations, and the brands ranking has a new leader this year: Renault is up 2 spots and 8% to 6,677 sales and 13.9%, passing Peugeot, leader in 2012 but down 21% to #3 this year, and Volkswagen also down 2 ranks to #4. Citroen for its part is up two to #2 at 5,482 units and 11.5%. Notice also Isuzu up 70% to #7, Toyota up 129% to #9 and Hyundai up 175% to #13.

Keep in mind the Tunisian new car market is regulated by strict annual import quotas for each brand so the trends you see here may not reflect the full extent of the changing Tunisian customer tastes. Model-wise, the Renault Symbol is the best-seller in the country for at least the 6th year in a row thanks to 4,033 sales and 8.4% share, albeit down a harsh 27% on 2012. The VW Polo follows like last year, down 18% to 2,831 units and 5.9% while the Fiat Punto is up a splendid (and potentially unique in the world) 46% and 4 spots to round up the podium with 2,775 sales and 5.8%.

There are no less than two all-new models making their appearance in the Tunisian Top 5 this year: the Renault Clio IV lands directly at #4 with 2,239 units and 4.7% and the Peugeot 301 arrives at #5 with 2,005 sales and 4.2%, another excellent start along with the #2 and 5.6% it reached in neighbouring Algeria. Further down, the Isuzu D-Max pops up at #10 with 1,304 units, the Citroen Nemo is up 161% to #11, the Citroen C-Elysee lands at #13 with 1,141 sales, the Kia Picanto is up 10 spots to #18 and the Peugeot 208 up 25 to #19.
