Belgium (brands) Full Year 2013: VW resists Renault assault

December up 12% makes the Full Year 2013 Belgian new car market fall just short of 2012, down just 0.1% to 486,065 registrations. Renault leads the way in December thanks to 2,616 sales and 10.4% share, while great gainers include Opel up 59% to #3, Ford up 18% to #5, Citroen up 27% to #6, Dacia up 48% to #9 and Fiat & Nissan both up 27% to #11 and #13 respectively.

Over the Full Year, Volkswagen holds onto the brand pole position in spite of sales down 4% to 50,060 at 10.3% share while Renault is catching up, down just 1% to 45,652 units and 9.4%. In fact, the entire Top 5 brands are unchanged from last year, with Peugeot rounding up the podium at 8% share (-3%) followed by Citroen at 7% (-9%) and Opel at 6.9% (-4%). BMW gains one spot at #6, Mercedes is up 15% but stays #9, Hyundai is up 27% to break into the Top 10 at #10, Dacia is up 30% to #13 and Fiat up 17% to #14.
