While the rest of the European market seems to slowly but surely be turning the corner, new car sales in Switzerland are down a disappointing 8% year-on-year in November to 24,882 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 277,774 units, down 7% on 2012. Beaten by the Skoda Octavia last month, the VW Golf is back in pole position in November thanks to 1,248 sales and 5%, now adding up to 11,134 units and 4% so far in 2013. The Skoda Octavia is down to #2 but still very strong at 4% share and 987 sales vs. 3.2% year-to-date. Volkswagen has a great month, with both the Tiguan at #3 and 2.1% and the Polo at #4 and 1.9% delivering higher market shares than their year-to-date levels.

But the best performance of the month goes to the Suzuki SX4, breaking into the Swiss Top 5 for the first time in the history of the nameplate thanks to the new S-Cross generation at 445 units and 1.8% share. It is now #9 year-to-date. 3 additional models make big waves in the Top 10: the Audi A1 is up 24 spots on October to land at an all-time high #8 with 326 sales, the Subaru XV is up 11 to #9 and 316 units and the BMW X3 is up 5 to break into the Swiss Top 10 for the second time ever with September 2011. Further down, notice the Seat Leon up 38 to #21 and the Peugeot 2008 up 25 to an all-time high #30.
