New car sales in India are down 8% year-on-year in November to 196,095 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 2,258,835 units, down 7% on 2012. In the lead by far, the Maruti Alto delivers its best market share since last February at 11.7% thanks to 23,024 sales, now adding up to 241,954 units year-to-date. The Maruti Swift remains #2 with 15,734 sales and 8% just above its sedan version the Maruti DZire at 15,286 units and 7.8%, with the DZire still above the Swift year-to-date, but just 82,890 sales vs. 82,469. The Wagon R rounds up a Top 4 once again 100% Maruti, ahead of the Hyundai Grand i10 extremely impressive anew, improving to a best-ever 5.6% market share thanks to 11,007 sales.

Nissan Terrano

The Honda Amaze stays #7 and lodges another outstanding score at 7,598 units and 3.9% share, while the small SUV battle is getting a little bit tighter below in the ranking: the Ford Ecosport is up one rank to #14 with 4,392 sales and 2.2%, followed by the Renault Duster down one to #17 at 3,624 units and 1.8% and its twin the Nissan Terrano breaking into the Indian Top 20 as early as for its 2nd month in market at #20 with 2,865 sales and a new best-ever 1.5% market share… Notice also the Chevrolet Tavera up 9 spots to #34 and the Skoda Octavia up one to #52.

Force One

This month we welcome the arrival of a new brand in the Indian sales charts: Force Motors, previously known as Bajaj. Force is not a new brand per se but has only started communicating sales figures this month, hence their (very) late arrival in the ranking. Force sells 3 models: the Traveller, a modified Mercedes TN landing at #45 with 589 sales, the Trax, inspired by the Mercedes G-Class arriving at #45 with 575 units and the One, inspired by the Isuzu MU7 with 36 sales.
