First November new car sales figures are starting to trickle through: in France over the first 11 days of the month the market is up a shy 1.5% year-on-year. Intermediary figures are always to be taken with a pinch of salt as they are heavily influenced by promotions and manufacturers’s tendencies to skew their sales towards the start (Volkswagen) or the end (Renault) of the month. In this context the Citroen C3, now freed from strike-related supply issues, temporarily takes the lead with 1,300 sales, up 37% year-on-year, ahead of the Peugeot 208 (-12%) and Renault Clio IV (-7%).

Volkswagen is strong, placing the Polo at #4 with 788 sales and the Golf VII at #5 with 787 units. The Peugeot 2008, after hitting a record 4th spot in October, is already present at the highest level right from the start of the month, ranking #6 with 750 sales while the Renault Captur is outside the Top 10 for now. The Citroen C4 Picasso II continues to shine at #7 and 660 units, the Dacia Sandero is back inside the Top 10 at #8 with 588 sales and the Toyota Yaris is the third foreigner inside the French Top 10 (albeit produced locally) at #9 and 563 units.
