The Ukrainian new car market is down a painful 13% year-on-year in July to 17,913 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 115,552 units, down 6% on 2012. Thanks to a third consecutive month in pole position at 736 sales and 4.1% share, the locally-produced ZAZ Sens takes the lead year-to-date with 3,828 units and 3.3%, passing the Hyundai Accent, down to #10 this month, at 3,672 sales and 3.2%. In second place in July we find another Ukrainian specificity: the Bogdan 110, a rebadged Lada 110 whose Russian production ended years ago, manufactured in Ukraine in the Cherkasy factory owned by the Bogdan group. The 110 sells 569 units for a 3.2% market share and now ranks #13 year-to-date in 2013 vs. #50 in 2012…

Below the ZAZ Lanos stable at #3, the Skoda Rapid confirms it is now the brand’s blockbuster in Ukraine, down just two spot on a fantastic month of June to rank #4 with 474 sales and 2.6%. The Geely CK is back up 6 ranks to #5 and passes the VW Polo to rank third year-to-date at 3,068 units and 2.7%. Other great performers include the Ford Focus and Honda CR-V both up 9 spots to #8 and #15 respectively, the Peugeot 301 up 12 to #20, Citroen C-Elysee up 9 to #22 and the Toyota Venza up 37 to #39 vs. #113 year-to-date.

Chinese models are back to their shiny self after a lukewarm June: the Geely Emgrand EC7 is back up 90 ranks to #13, the Geely MK-2/Cross up 22 to #25, BYD F3 up 26 to #70, Geely LC/Cross up 30 to #84, Lifan X60 up 8 to #128 and the Great Wall Haval H5 back inside the Top 150 at #142. Most strikingly, we welcome 3 all-new models inside the Ukrainian Top 150 this month, and all of them are Chinese: the Great Wall Haval M4 lands at #123, the FAW Besturn B50 at #131 and the Geely Emgrand X7 at #143.
