The Argentinean new car market continues at records levels, up 15% year-on-year in July to 85,271 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to a best-ever 585,011 units after 7 months, up 9% on 2012. The big surprise this month is the first position of Renault in the brands ranking. Traditionally third, the French carmaker bypasses both Volkswagen and Chevrolet in July thanks to 13,956 sales and 16.4% share, and places 3 models inside the Top 6: the Clio Mio is up 2 spots on June to #3 at 2,906 units and 3.4%, the Sandero up 4 to #5 at 2,310 sales and the Duster up one to #6 and 2,291 units, both at 2.7% share. The Logan is also up 11 ranks to #17 at 1.6% vs. #41 and 0.7% year-to-date. Given the new gen Sandero and Logan have not arrived yet in Argentina, this is most probably the result of aggressive pricing to get rid of the current generation stock.

Peugeot 208 Argentina July 2013The Peugeot 208 breaks into the Argentinean Top 10 for the first time.

Back to the top of the models ranking where the Chevrolet Classic tells everyone who’s Boss by selling 3,448 units for a 4% market share, ahead of the VW Gol Trend at 2,921 sales and 3.4%. The other big news is the thunderous arrival of the Peugeot 208 inside the Argentinean Top 10: up a whopping 71 spots on June to #9 at 2,059 units and 2.4%. Notice also the Chevrolet Prisma and Onix but up 7 ranks to #23 and #24 respectively.
