It seems that Vietnamese new car sales data is now availabe every second month, and with a bit of delay today I give you May, when the market is up a huge 43% year-on-year to 8,201 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 34,892 units, up a fantastic 17% on 2012. The Toyota Fortuner tops the Vietnamese models ranking for the third month in a row in May thanks to 681 sales and 8.3% share, reinforcing its 2013 YTD leadership at 2,743 units and 7.9%. The Toyota Corolla is 2nd with 536 sales and 6.5%, ahead of the Toyota Innova at 504 units and 6.1% and the Toyota Camry with 412 sales and 5%.
The Kia Picanto is the best-selling non-Toyota at #5, but in the 2013 year-to-date ranking the Top 5 is 100% Toyota with the Vios at #5 with 5.2% market share. The other two great performers in Vietnam this month are both Japanese SUVs: the Honda CR-V is up 8 spots on April to a brilliant 7th place with 198 sales and 2.4% while the Mazda CX-5 ranks #16 for the 2nd month in a row at 81 units and 1% share.
