If you have read the last articles on Armenia and Ukraine you will know that the new generation Renault Symbol and Logan have been rationalised into one single model. As a result, countries that were selling both previous generation Dacia Logan and Renault Symbol have ditched the Dacia variant and kept the Renault, calling it either Symbol or Logan. It makes total sense when you think about it. And it explains why we haven’t seen the Dacia Logan, #2 in 2012, inside the Top 10 since the new generation Symbol hit Algerian shores. It also explains why the Symbol sales figures are so high: 3,592 sales in May and now 2,744 in June, by far the most popular model in the country this month and now #8 year-to-date.

This means the race for the title of 2013 best-selling car in Algeria is now wide open. Rewarded for its consistency at the highest level straight from launch (5 consecutive months inside the podium), the Peugeot 301 is now in the lead year-to-date thanks to 15,471 sales vs. 15,128 for the Renault Clio IV (#5 this month) and the Dacia Logan estimated at 14,925. This makes Algeria the first country in the world to crown the Peugeot 301 in a year-to-date ranking… In June the 301 is strong once again in third place at 1,805 units.
